she studied art at the Pennsyluania academy of Fine arts in philadepgia and then travelled extensively in europe setting in paris in 1874,in that year she had a acquainyance of Degas ,with whom she was to be on close term throughout her life.
Cassatt had completely absorbed feom her Impressionist colleagnes Caillebotte ,Degas and Renoir .as well as her study of japanese prints,the modern idea that the backgroud of painting might be as significant as the foreground.
后来她就定居在巴黎,再后来70多岁了才回美国伴了画展.到那个时候美国人材接受她的画,是为不可多得的女画家,终身未婚.作品大多以妇女,儿童的生活画居多.
